Home Advent House

First Step Program

This program formerly known as the Court Ordered Program, consists of individual men and women who are ordered to Advent House by a Judge to fulfill requirements of the courts in a supervised setting. A majority of these individuals have a drug or alcohol addiction which leads to multiple arrests and prison terms. A Case Manager meets with participants on a daily basis, refers them to out-patient drug/alcohol counseling, does on site random drug and alcohol screenings, provides detailed reports to the courts and probation officers and helps set goals which include paying court fines and child support payments. On site groups are mandatory and include Relapse Prevention, Job Readiness and outside Narcotics Anonymous groups. The overall goal is to assist these men and women in making permanent changes in their lives to prevent them from following in the same patterns as they have in the past.
